What customers say?

“ Simply spectacular! We stopped by chance; it was going to be a quick stop on our way back, but we ended up deciding to stay for a leisurely lunch. The weekend menu was €28. A very reasonable price for the type of food and the presentation of the dishes. -The first surprise, and undoubtedly the best, was the friendliness of each and every one of the staff. I've worked in the hospitality industry for many years, and unfortunately, this isn't the norm. The way they treated everyone there, making sure everything was perfect and being not only cordial but also professional, was admirable! -Second, they gave us a freshly made appetizer with the meal. Furthermore, my companion wasn't very hungry and asked if it was possible to have a half menu, to which they very kindly replied and gave us plates so we could share all the dishes. -Third, as a courtesy, they brought us each a lemon sorbet. We don't know why, but we thought it was a lovely touch. Then came the main courses, and they were very good (especially the oxtail). Finally, we ordered the French toast from Donuts, and it was delicious. Fourth, I got up to check out the cheese display. We hadn't planned on buying anything, but thanks to their recommendations, we ended up buying two cheeses that have won several awards for being among the best in the world. And some muffins too. This recommendation is for everyone who has the chance to visit; don't hesitate to do so. I know for sure I'll be back! But above all, I wanted to congratulate and thank each and every one of the staff members equally for treating us with such kindness, professionalism, and respect. We know that the hospitality industry is a tough profession, which makes it all the more commendable. ”

“ Restaurant next to a gas station with Michelin-starred dishes. You can tell the staff loves their work. Set menus for €16 including a drink and dessert. Definitely worth repeating! ”

“ The restaurant is attached to the service station and not in the old abandoned buildings. Delicious food with good choice and served by charming young lady. Definitely worth a stop. 16 euros. Quality very good for the price. ”

“ Stopping at Un Alto en el Camino is much more than just pulling over for a bite to eat: it's about taking a break. The moment you step inside, you realize this isn't your average roadside diner. There's soul here. The menu is spectacular, yes, but not just because everything tastes amazing, but because behind each dish, you sense an intention, a touch of care you don't expect to find in the middle of a road trip. The quality of the ingredients is evident to both the eye and the palate, and the preparation has that touch of honest cooking, done without haste, as if each recipe had a little story behind it. The staff welcomes you in a way that disarms you. It's not a polite greeting, but one that comes from the heart, making you feel cared for, welcomed, almost as if you've arrived home after many miles. That human warmth makes all the difference and reminds you how important it is to find people who put their heart into what they do. And perhaps that's why, amidst the noise of the journey, this place becomes an oasis on the A4. A place where time suddenly slows down, where you eat well, breathe deeply, and recharge before continuing your journey. It's not just recommended: it's one of those hidden gems you're grateful to have found. ”

“ When you stop at what you think is just a simple roadside gas station bar, and upon entering you find a warm and inviting place with waiters and a maître d' well-dressed in Michelin-star-style jackets, you can only think how good the food is going to be. And it was! Not only was the service friendly, but just looking at the menu was enough to make your mouth water. It even included an exquisite appetizer: a mini lemon sorbet between courses . The menu offers a variety of starters, main courses, and desserts, prioritizing quality over quantity, and each dish is more difficult to choose than the last . In my case, I had migas with a fried egg, secreto (a cut of pork) on a bed of potatoes with romesco sauce and ham shavings, and for dessert, a spectacular donut torrija (a type of French toast). 100% recommended. ”

“ A Stop Along the Way has been a real find. I never imagined you could eat so well on the road. Every menu item looked amazing, the dishes were presented with such care, and the service was outstanding. It's such a joy to find places like this with such a great team; they even treated our little dog like royalty. We'll definitely be back on our next trip. ”
